WISJ and JBEC’s Jumpstart Your Career event summary

On the 25th of April we partnered with the Japan Business and Entrepreneurship Council (JBEC) to host the Jumpstart Your Career Event. Our 3 speakers, Jiana Leung and Yuhi Oshima of Deutsche Securities Inc. and Takuo Urushihara of Venture Cafe Tokyo spoke to over 20 high school and college students about networking, building resumes and navigating the recruitment process, giving them invaluable insights into industry life.

Takuo spoke about the value of networking in entrepreneurship and how to effectively and concisely give an elevator pitch. Jiana spoke to the importance of first impressions, whether it’s in an interview, on a resume or on the first project at a new job. Yuhi gave some advice on valuable skills to have on your resume and how the image you present to your employers must be consistent between your on paper and in person skills.
